Ballerina Soaring
Ballerina Soaring
This image of a ballerina demonstrates the grace and beauty of her movement as she soars in the air.
This piece is created by placing thousands of individual petals and florets to capture the movement of the ballerina. Yellow rose petals with an underlay of darker yellow petals make up her dress, while red rose petals and dyed red Queen Anne’s lace florets complete the image.

Ballerina On Pointe is an absolute delight of movement and balance.
She graces the stage with red rose petals in her dress, with darker red rose petals as an underlay to create movement. Yellow rose petals reflect both grace and strength in her arms and legs. Pink rose petals, dyed yellow baby’s breath florets, and pieces of bark complete the image.

Blue Ballet Dancer
Blue Ballet Dancer
This individual ballet dancer captures both grace and strength in his movement using hundreds of petals, florets, and leaves. I can just imagine the height and distance this ballet dancer attains as he leaps across the stage.
The tights of the ballet dancer are the darker petals of blue larkspur while his shirt is done in the lighter petals. Finishing the piece are yellow rose petals for his arms, dyed red baby’s breath florets for his hair and high mountain silver stem leaves for his shoes.

Principal Dancers
Principal Dancers
My research for this piece continued to return me to this famous pose from the ballet “Giselle”. I am drawn to the poise, grace and movement that ballet dancers can portray but I know that comes after many years of study and practice. I think I was first enraptured with ballet when my neighbour and childhood friend studied with the National School of Ballet. Here the Principal Dancers move into position and hold this pose for a moment before the ballet continues.
The ballerina stands on pointe shoes of pink rose petals with just a hint of white chrysanthemum florets. Her dress is underlaid with dark yellow rose petals and it is completed with yellow rose petals. The bodice of her dress is made of lighter yellow rose petals, while her arms and legs are red rose petals. The leggings of the ballet dancer are lighter blue larkspur petals, and his shirt is the darker blue larkspur petals with touches of white Queen Anne’s Lace. His ballet shoes are made from high mountain silver stem leaves while red rose petals complete his wrist and hand. Finally, these dancers are standing on a floor of bark and their hair is dyed red baby’s breath florets.

"Shelley"
"Shelley"
Influenced by a painting by Monet, I imagine a lone woman standing on a rocky cliff waiting for her lover to return. This piece is dedicated to all the “Shelleys” in our lives who support and encourage us.
To create this image, I have used both floral and botanical materials to tell the story. Look closely and you will find various shades of light blue larkspur petals, the richness of purple larkspur petals, as well as natural white Queen Anne’s lace florets in her dress. Yellow and pink rose petals, dyed yellow Queen Anne’s lace florets, red phlox, and dyed blue baby’s breath complete the woman while pieces of bark and fern stem are the final botanical touches, I added,

Bride At Rose Arbor
Bride At Rose Arbor
This beautiful bride is waiting to walk down the aisle and is facing a rose arbor.
Her dress is made from white larkspur petals with a fancy purple chrysanthemum petal underlay to show the fullness and movement of her dress. The lace of the blouse is made of individual natural white Queen Anne’s lace florets while her hair is a natural nigella flower. The final touch is a bouquet made cosmos leaf and florets of blue salvia. Off in the distance is an arbor of rue leaves, red baby’s breath florets and red phlox flowers.
